They would not paint on their bedroom's walls.
Cette lampe éclairerait mieux le fond de la pièce.
This lamp would light up the back of the room better.

Let's talk about the subjunctive!

With phrases expressing doubt, possibilities, or desire, use the subjunctive after que. For many verbs, take the ‑ent off the ils/elles present tense form, and use these endings:

subject verb (choisir)
je choisisse
tu choisisses
il / elle / on choisisse
nous choisissions
vous choisissiez
ils / elles choisissent

Sometimes the subjunctive form looks exactly like the present.

Elle chante.
Je doute qu’elle chante.
