TIP

Ne te gare pas ici, c'est interdit !

We've seen that Ne mange pas ! means Don't eat! But when telling someone not to do something with verbs like se perdre or se garer, you need to add a vous or te in there.

Ne te perds pas !
Don't get lost!
Ne vous garez pas là !
Don't park there!

For the sentences with te, remember to drop the s on the end of ‑er verbs like se dépêcher.

Ne te dépêche pas !
Don't hurry!

TIP

Changes of state in the past!

When talking about the past, verbs that indicate motion or change of state use être instead of avoir. If the subject is feminine, add an ‑e. If the subject is plural, add an ‑s!
