You’ve already seen 个 (ge) or 位 (wèi) used as measure words for people; for example, 那个人 (nà ge rén, that person) and 三位 (sān wèi, three people).

Here are some measure words you can use to describe things that aren't people!

杯 (bēi) cup, glass

三杯啤酒
(sān bēi píjiǔ) three glasses of beer

块 (kuài) piece

半块蛋糕
(bàn kuài dàngāo) half a piece of cake

碗 (wǎn) bowl

一碗牛肉面
(yì wǎn niúròu miàn) a bowl of beef noodles
