在 (zài) for Location

To talk about where someone or something is located, use 在 (zài).

伦敦不在美国。
(Lúndūn bú zài měiguó.) London isn’t in the USA.
他们在学校。
(Tāmen zài xuéxiào.) They are at the school.

在 (zài) can also be used after certain verbs to tell where the action is taking place.

学生住在加拿大。
(Xuéshēng zhù zài Jiānádà.) The student lives in Canada.
你住在中国吗？
(Nǐ zhù zài Zhōngguò ma?) Do you live in China?
