To talk about the past in French with ‑er verbs, first use the correct form of avoir and then change the next verb ending to ‑é.
Nous avons acheté une voiture.
We bought a car.
Tu as visité ce musée.
You visited this museum.
Ils ont aimé ton gâteau.
They liked your cake.
In English, we can say I like the blue shirt or more simply, I like the blue one. French is similar! But instead of the blue one, you’d just say the blue.
Notice below that we say le bleu because le T‑shirt is masculine and singular!
le pantalon rouge the red pants |
le rouge the red one |
---|---|
la robe blanche the white dress |
la blanche the white one |
les pommes vertes the green apples |
les vertes the green ones |
