The origin of Peking Duck, 北京烤鸭 (Běijīng kǎoyā), dates back to the Ming Dynasty when it was reserved for royalty in Beijing, formerly known as Peking.
Kung Pao Chicken, 宫保鸡丁 (gōng bǎo jī dīng), is named after a government official, who held the rank of Gongbao. He was a big fan of the dish!
The chewy tapioca balls that fill the bottom of Bubble Milk Tea, 珍珠奶茶 (zhēnzhū nǎichá), look like bubbles!
