The words in some Chinese slang are quite different to their original meaning.
囧 (jiǒng, an annoyed or helpless face), meaning bright, is used to express annoyance and helplessness, given that the character looks like a face!
萌 (méng, cute), means sprout, but is often used as cute.
刷 (shuā, scroll through), is brush, but also means to scroll through social media.
粉丝 (fěnsī, fan), or Chinese vermicelli, is used to mean fans, due to the similarity in sound.
