The words in some Chinese slang are quite different to their original meaning.

(jiǒng, an annoyed or helpless face), meaning bright, is used to express annoyance and helplessness, given that the character looks like a face!

(méng, cute), means sprout, but is often used as cute.

(shuā, scroll through), is brush, but also means to scroll through social media.

粉丝 (fěnsī, fan), or Chinese vermicelli, is used to mean fans, due to the similarity in sound.

她有一百万个粉丝!
Tā yǒu yìbǎi wàn ge fěnsī!
She has one million fans!
